中国五岳之首，两千年来帝王封禅的圣地。
泰山（当地人称为 Taishan）拔地而起于山东省华北平原之上，是中国最受尊崇的五岳之首。数千年来，皇帝、诗人和朝圣者沿着数千级石阶攀登，向苍天致敬，留下了刻满摩崖石刻的悬崖、古老的柏树林以及道观，宛如一座露天的博物馆。如今，它依然是中国精神文化的重要支柱，以变幻莫测的云海之上的日出景观闻名。
在泰安市停留一到两天最为理想。建议住在靠近岱庙或红门登山口的市区，以便尽早出发或在下山后立刻休息。为了行程的自然衔接，可乘坐二十分钟的高铁向南前往曲阜，游览孔庙和孔府；或者向北前往济南，欣赏其天然淡水泉。在北京至上海的高铁线路上，泰安是一个理想的中间停靠站。这里适合徒步爱好者、历史迷以及希望体验中国民间朝圣文化的旅客，但寻求宁静荒野或独处时光的旅行者可能会觉得铺砌的石阶和庞大的国内游客群过于喧闹。
